The Sinclair Memorial Hall stands as a testament to Rev. R. Sinclair’s vision for a dedicated place of worship and community. Though initially planned in 1933, the hall's construction was delayed until 1978 when the Sinclair Memorial Hall Committee was formed. Under the leadership of Mr. C. Samuel, Mr. A. Thuraimani, and significant contributions from the Archdiocese, the hall was completed in 1985. Dr. John R. Sinclair laid the foundation stone, symbolizing his father’s enduring legacy. Today, the hall hosts spiritual events, weddings, and community gatherings, honoring Sinclair’s dedication and the generosity of the congregation.

 "Legacy of Faith:

The Story of Sinclair Memorial Hall"

The Marthandam CSI Church was designed and constructed by Rev. R. Sinclair, whose vision and commitment were pivotal in creating this remarkable place of worship. The dedication ceremony was held on May 13, 1933. Rev. Sinclair emphasized that the church should be exclusively dedicated to worship, with all other church-related events taking place in a separate venue. Recognizing the need for a hall to host functions beyond religious services, he also planned for the construction of such a public hall.

During the consecration of the church, the congregation expressed their desire for a hall to be built. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction of the hall could not be completed at the time.

Many years later, the idea of fulfilling Sinclair unfulfilled work was awakened within the hearts of the congregation, and in 1978, when the pastor of Mr. C. Samuel, M.A.B.D.,   and Prof. Edwin J Paul as secretary the Sinclair Memorial Hall Committee  formed. This committee included leaders from various congregational groups and was instrumental in realizing the vision of the hall. The committee received significant support from the Archdiocese, western lower side of the church was chosen for the construction. The congregation  donated generously.

Dr. John R Sinclair, the son of Sinclair, along with his wife Dr. Margaret Sinclair, laid the foundation stone in a deeply symbolic act, as it was fitting for the son to lay the foundation for his father's memorial hall. Fundraising efforts were carried out, with the architectural team going door-to-door to collect donations. When  Mr. C. Samuel completed his tenure,  Mr. A. Thuraimani took charge of the congregation, bringing renewed energy to the project. His leadership and the support of the congregation significantly contributed to the completion of the hall.

The community's dedication to the project was evident as every family pledged financial support. The Archdiocese's efforts, led by Archbishop Mr. G. Christutas, were crucial in raising Rs. 5000/- for the construction. Dr. Sinclair and his family also made a generous donation of Rs. 8000/-. The official opening of the Sinclair Memorial Hall took place on December 21, 1985, with the Archbishop and other church leaders participating in the prayer and dedication of the hall. Since its completion, the hall has hosted spiritual events, weddings, and other special gatherings.

Many of the church members donated generously, and their names can be found on the stone plaque at the entrance of the hall, as we encourage.

The hall is not only special for its architectural beauty but also for the significant contributions of many individuals and families who donated in memory of loved ones. The hall also features a unique underground well, which provides water to the hall and neighbouring establishments. This, along with the other special features of the hall, ensures                             that the legacy of Sinclair and the love of the congregation continue to thrive.
