          The author served as the Secretary of the Idukki District Mountaineering Association from 1987 to 1997, a tenure that spanned a crucial decade in the growth of mountaineering and adventure tourism in the region. During this time, the association played a pivotal role in organizing trekking expeditions, rock climbing activities, and mountaineering training programs, which contributed significantly to popularizing the sport among locals and tourists alike.
