Hello, I’m Dr. Suresh Paul, born and raised in Marthandam. While I’ve dedicated much of my life to studying and practicing ophthalmology, today I’d like to share some experiences that shaped me outside the realm of medicine. This blog is not about eye care or healing, but rather a reflection on the journey of life, education, and personal growth.

I grew up in Marthandam, where my educational journey began at the Government School. It was a place that shaped my early foundation and nurtured my curiosity. I continued my schooling at LMS Higher Secondary School, where I spent the next few years, learning more and developing skills that would go on to serve me in various ways. Read more about me >>

From Munnar to the Peaks: A Decade of Adventure" chronicles a transformative era for adventure tourism in Kerala’s Idukki district. During a pivotal ten-year period (1987-1997) as Secretary of the Idukki District Mountaineering Association, I helped pioneer trekking, rock climbing, and mountaineering training programs that popularized outdoor sports locally and among tourists. The association forged vital partnerships with government agencies and adventure organizations, improved safety awareness, and enhanced infrastructure for climbers. These efforts established Idukki as a renowned mountaineering destination, spurring local tourism and economic growth, while preserving the region’s breathtaking natural landscapes for future generations. A lasting legacy endures.

Though initially planned in 1933, the hall's construction was delayed until 1978 when the Sinclair Memorial Hall Committee was formed. Under the leadership of Mr. C. Samuel, Mr. A. Thuraimani, and significant contributions from the Archdiocese, the hall was completed in 1985. Dr. John R. Sinclair laid the foundation stone, symbolizing his father’s enduring legacy. Today, the hall hosts spiritual events, weddings, and community gatherings, honoring Sinclair’s dedication and the generosity of the congregation.
